Boston, MA – Dangerous heat continues across Massachusetts Thursday, with Boston facing heat index values up to 101°F before relief arrives Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Norton, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for Suffolk County and much of eastern Massachusetts until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19. With actual temperatures nearing 96°F and oppressive humidity, residents are advised to stay indoors, limit outdoor activity, and hydrate frequently.
The worst of the heat will ease overnight as cooler southwest winds begin moving into the area. Friday will feel noticeably different, with highs in the low 80s and breezier conditions. Dry, sunny skies should dominate the day, offering some relief for commuters and those returning to work after the Juneteenth holiday.
By Saturday, temperatures will climb again to the mid-80s, with a growing chance of afternoon thunderstorms by Saturday night, especially north and west of the city. Sunday brings more unsettled weather with showers possible before 1 p.m. and continued warm, humid conditions in the upper 80s.
Residents planning outdoor events this weekend should monitor local radar and consider alternate indoor options, especially on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Temperatures moderate early next week with low 90s returning Monday but a chance of showers by Tuesday afternoon.
