Boston, Massachusetts – Strong and potentially damaging winds are impacting the Boston area as a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton reports sustained west winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour, affecting Boston and much of eastern Massachusetts. These winds are expected to persist through the overnight hours before gradually weakening early Wednesday morning.

As of early Tuesday morning, conditions at Logan International Airport showed temperatures near 28 degrees, with overcast skies and strong winds producing wind chills in the teens. Forecasters note that the combination of cold air and gusty winds will make conditions feel significantly colder, especially in exposed coastal and elevated areas.

The advisory area includes Boston and surrounding communities, where gusty winds may blow around unsecured outdoor objects, break tree limbs, and result in isolated power outages. The strongest gusts are expected along the coast, on bridges, and in open areas where wind exposure is greatest.

Travel may be difficult at times, particularly for high-profile vehicles such as trucks, buses, and vans. Drivers are urged to use extra caution on highways and elevated roadways and to remain alert for debris on roads.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose items such as trash bins, holiday decorations, and patio furniture. Pedestrians should also exercise caution near trees, scaffolding, and construction zones where falling debris is possible.

Winds are expected to gradually diminish after midnight, with quieter conditions developing Wednesday morning. While cold temperatures will persist, no additional high-impact weather is expected later this week.

Officials advise residents to continue monitoring updates from the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
