Massachusetts – The early December chill returns to coastal New England this weekend, and Boston is waking up to a wintry mix of snow and coastal flooding concerns. The air feels sharp and still at 30°F, and snowflakes are already falling lightly across portions of eastern Massachusetts as a Coastal Flood Statement remains in effect until 1 P.M. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, tide levels are expected to rise 1 to 1.5 feet above normal along Boston Harbor, Cape Ann, and the South Shore, with minor coastal flooding possible near low-lying streets and wharfs. Motorists are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways, particularly around Long Wharf, Morrissey Boulevard, and the Seaport area during high tide.

Meanwhile, light snow showers could bring a dusting to one inch across the Boston metro through Sunday morning, mixing with sleet along the coast. Temperatures hover near freezing, making slick bridges and secondary roads a concern through midday.

Conditions improve later Sunday as winds shift northwest and skies clear, but the reprieve will be short-lived. Monday stays sunny but brisk with highs in the 20s, before another snow system approaches Tuesday night—possibly adding to the early winter pattern gripping the Northeast.

Looking ahead, mid-December models (Dec. 11–17) hint at a colder storm track extending through the Great Lakes and New England, keeping winter weather chances active through early holiday travel weeks.
