Boston, Massachusetts – Dry conditions will hold across Massachusetts today, but a developing storm system will bring steady rain that could impact the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, conditions will trend drier and milder today with temperatures closer to seasonal normals. A slight chance of showers develops Wednesday night, but the more significant rainfall arrives late Thursday night into early Friday, with rain chances climbing to 65% to 75% across much of the state.

Cities including Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and Providence will see increasing clouds Thursday afternoon, followed by steady rain after midnight. Roads along I-90, I-93, and Route 128 may become slick overnight, with reduced visibility and ponding water developing into the early morning hours Friday.

Rain will gradually taper later Friday, but the system will bring widespread wet conditions during peak travel times. No major severe weather is expected, though steady rainfall could slow traffic across urban corridors.

Residents should prepare for dry weather through midweek before planning for wet conditions late Thursday night into Friday. Cooler air returns Saturday, with additional updates expected as the system approaches.
