Boston, MA – Massachusetts residents will see mild conditions Tuesday before gusty northeast winds arrive late tonight and into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Boston.

Forecasters said Tuesday will remain mostly sunny with highs ranging from the low 70s along the coast to near 80 degrees inland. However, winds are expected to increase overnight, especially across southeastern Massachusetts.

According to the NWS, maximum wind gusts could reach 35 to 40 mph on Wednesday across Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Block Island. Cities such as Hyannis, Vineyard Haven, and Nantucket are projected to see the strongest gusts. Inland areas, including Worcester, Springfield, and Hartford, will likely experience lower gusts between 20 and 25 mph.

The agency noted that gusty winds may continue into early Thursday before gradually easing. While no major storm system is driving the winds, forecasters warned that those near coastal areas should secure outdoor objects and expect choppy marine conditions.

Temperatures will remain seasonable through midweek, with highs in the low-to-mid 70s across much of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Cooler readings in the upper 60s to low 70s are expected along the Cape and Islands.

The NWS emphasized that while the strongest winds will be confined to coastal areas, all residents should be prepared for blustery conditions as September closes out.
