Massachusetts – Wet pavement and chilly air are setting the stage for a messy stretch across Boston, where rain will shift toward a wintry mix and slick travel conditions by the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are hovering near 37°F early this morning at Logan Airport with light snow already mixing in. Rain will take over through midday before intensifying into steady rainfall this afternoon. By tonight, colder air pushes back in, allowing rain to mix with sleet and possibly wet snow as temperatures fall to near 33°F.

That shift matters for drivers. Roads across I-93, I-90, and Route 1 could turn slushy late tonight into early Monday, especially on bridges and overpasses where surfaces cool fastest. Even minor accumulation under 1 inch could create slick spots during the morning commute.

Monday stays cold, with highs near 35°F and scattered snow showers lingering. Skies begin to clear Monday night, setting up a sharp cooldown that could refreeze leftover moisture. That raises the risk for patchy black ice early Tuesday.

By Tuesday, sunshine returns with highs near 45°F, offering a brief break. Milder air builds midweek, pushing temperatures into the low 50s by Wednesday, though another round of rain may arrive late Wednesday into Thursday.

Plan extra travel time late tonight into Monday morning. Keep winter gear handy despite the spring calendar. Conditions can change quickly this time of year.

Five Day Forecast for Boston, Massachusetts
Monday: High 35°F – Snow showers early, cloudy
Tuesday: High 45°F – Mostly sunny
Wednesday: High 52°F – Increasing clouds
Thursday: High 53°F – Chance of rain
Friday: High 49°F – Mostly sunny
