Boston, MA – A winter weather advisory is in effect across much of Western and Central Massachusetts beginning Wednesday night. Residents are advised to prepare for hazardous travel conditions, especially during the Thursday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to begin around 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue through 10 a.m. Thursday. Accumulations are estimated between 2 and 5 inches, with localized amounts up to 6 inches in higher elevations such as the Worcester Hills and Berkshires.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution on roadways, particularly along Interstate 90 and Route 2, which may experience slippery and snow-covered conditions. The most significant accumulations are likely overnight, with snow tapering off into lighter flurries by mid-morning.

The weekend forecast brings calmer conditions, with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s across the region. However, black ice may remain a concern in shaded areas, particularly early Friday.

Stay informed by checking local weather updates before traveling. For those heading outdoors, ensure proper footwear to avoid slips on icy sidewalks. Residents are encouraged to clear walkways promptly to reduce hazards.
