Boston, MA – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect Saturday for Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut as gusty winds and dry air create dangerous fire conditions. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and take precautions to prevent accidental fires.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning extends until 6 p.m. Saturday, with northwest wind gusts reaching 30 mph and humidity levels as low as 15%. The combination of rapidly drying fuels and breezy conditions increases the likelihood of wildfires, particularly in forested or grassy areas.

Officials advise against outdoor activities that may cause sparks, including burning leaves or using equipment that produces heat. Smokers should properly dispose of cigarette butts to prevent accidental ignition. Motorists are also encouraged to avoid parking on dry grass.

The weather will remain sunny with a high near 59 degrees, but fire risk will persist until winds diminish overnight. Sunday’s forecast calls for calmer conditions, with lighter northwest winds of 7 to 10 mph and a continued high of 59 degrees.

Looking ahead, the week’s weather will feature mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s through Wednesday. Overnight temperatures will drop into the low 40s, with no significant precipitation expected until midweek.
