Boston, MA – Hot, sticky nights and daytime highs nearing 100°F will blanket Massachusetts through Friday, with thunderstorms looming by the week’s end.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, heat indices could reach the triple digits Wednesday and Thursday as high humidity combines with temperatures in the low to mid-90s. Little overnight cooling is expected, with lows staying in the 70s most of the week, creating a dangerous lack of heat relief.
Communities across eastern and central Massachusetts, including Worcester, Lowell, and the Merrimack Valley, will be especially impacted by prolonged heat stress. Boston could see highs near 94°F on Wednesday with “feels-like” temps even higher. Storms are possible Thursday into Friday, bringing a potential break from the extreme heat.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Use air conditioning where available and avoid leaving pets or children in vehicles.
Relief arrives by Friday night as drier, cooler air moves in. Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy with highs in the 70s and 80s.
Heat advisories could be issued if conditions worsen. Monitor local alerts and plan for cooling strategies through the week.
