Boston, MA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday across parts of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, where snow, sleet, and freezing rain have created slippery travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton.
Forecasters report that southern Worcester, eastern Hampden, and eastern Hampshire counties could see 2 to 5 inches of snow, while lighter totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected across Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties in Connecticut. A light glaze of ice is also possible in the higher elevations of northwest Providence County, Rhode Island, and parts of Windham County.
The Wednesday morning commute is expected to be slow and hazardous, with slick roads and reduced traction, especially on untreated surfaces. Motorists traveling along the I-84, I-90, and I-91 corridors should allow extra time and maintain safe following distances.
The weather service urges drivers to slow down, use caution, and allow for additional stopping distance, as even minor accumulations can cause dangerous conditions.
Temperatures are expected to rise later in the morning, helping to ease travel impacts as precipitation tapers off.
