Maryland – The morning sky over Baltimore glows pale blue, but flags already snap against a sharp westerly wind. The National Weather Service warns that gusts up to 30 mph could build through Friday, signaling a brief but blustery pattern across central Maryland before rain moves in late weekend.

For now, the chill is manageable—highs near 45°F under partly sunny skies—but Friday brings stronger winds as colder air filters in behind a departing front. The agency has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac, where gale-force gusts may create hazardous boating conditions through Friday evening.

Saturday remains sunny and calmer, offering a decent window for post-holiday travel or outdoor plans. But by Sunday afternoon, the atmosphere reloads with moisture. Rain becomes likely, spreading inland from the coast with up to 60–80% chance of precipitation through evening. Drivers on I-95, I-70, and Route 40 should plan for wet roads and reduced visibility.

The next system early next week keeps the Mid-Atlantic under a cooler, unsettled stretch. NOAA’s 6–10 Day Outlook shows below-normal temperatures and above-normal rainfall from December 2–6, marking the area’s transition toward a winter weather pattern.

5-Day Outlook (Baltimore, MD)

  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 44°F.
  • Sunday: Rain likely, high 49°F.
  • Monday: Chance of rain, high 42°F.
