Baltimore, MD – A winter storm is set to bring snow and icy conditions to Maryland, with the heaviest snowfall expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Forecasters predict between 2 and 5 inches of snow, potentially causing dangerous road conditions during the Wednesday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Baltimore, Cecil, and Harford counties until 7 AM Wednesday. Snow will begin Tuesday afternoon, intensifying by evening, with snowfall rates reaching half an inch per hour at times. Visibility could drop to less than a mile, making travel treacherous.
Drivers should avoid unnecessary travel, especially along I-95 and major highways, as roads are expected to become slick and hazardous. If travel is necessary, officials advise slowing down and allowing extra stopping distance.
Rain and sleet will mix with snow early Wednesday before tapering off by midday. Warmer temperatures on Thursday, with a high of 52°F, will help with melting, but another round of cold air returns Friday, keeping road conditions uncertain.
