WASHINGTON, D.C. – Clear skies and crisp air continue across the capital region this week, setting up near-perfect fall weather through Friday before a late-weekend change. The National Weather Service says sunshine and mild afternoons will dominate, giving residents ideal conditions for outdoor events, commuting, and leaf-viewing across Maryland, D.C., and northern Virginia.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, temperatures will rise into the upper 60s to low 70s through Friday, paired with low humidity and gentle north winds. By Saturday night, clouds will increase as a weak front approaches, bringing a 30 to 70 percent chance of rain Sunday into early Monday. Drivers along I-95 and I-66 should prepare for slower travel and slick roadways by Sunday evening.

Friday remains the pick of the week for fall activities — from pumpkin patch trips to outdoor festivals — with sunny skies and highs near 65°F. Saturday will trend partly cloudy with a touch more warmth before rain returns late Sunday. Those planning outdoor décor or garden work should secure loose items before the front moves in, and commuters are advised to check road conditions early Monday.

Temperatures will fall back into the 60s next week as cooler, drier air filters in behind the system, signaling the first hints of late-October chill.
