Baltimore, MD – Maryland will see its coldest night of the fall early next week as Arctic air rushes across the Mid-Atlantic. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, a strong cold front will move through the region Monday, November 10, dropping temperatures sharply and setting up widespread frost and freeze conditions by early Tuesday morning, November 11.
Forecasters expect inland areas from Frederick and Westminster to Hagerstown to fall into the upper-20s, while parts of the Eastern Shore — including Salisbury and Cambridge — dip near freezing. Along the Chesapeake Bay, readings will remain slightly milder, in the mid-30s, though frost is still expected even in coastal zones.
The National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington is expected to issue frost and freeze alerts across much of the state. Brisk northwest winds gusting 25–35 mph will accompany the cold front Monday evening, producing wind chills in the teens and 20s.
According to the Weather Prediction Center’s Day 3–7 Hazards Outlook, Maryland lies within a broad “Frost/Freeze” corridor extending from the Gulf Coast through New England — a sign of the front’s far-reaching intensity.
Tuesday’s highs will struggle to climb out of the low-40s statewide, marking a 20-degree drop from weekend temperatures. Clear skies and light winds will allow for another cold morning Wednesday before conditions slowly moderate later in the week.
Residents are urged to protect pipes, cover or move potted plants indoors, and ensure outdoor pets have warm overnight shelter.
