Baltimore, MD – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for western Maryland and nearby areas until 6 AM Friday, with up to 3 inches of snow and 35 mph wind gusts expected. The storm is set to create hazardous travel conditions overnight.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, the advisory primarily impacts western Maryland, including areas near Cumberland and Oakland, as well as parts of West Virginia and Virginia. Snowfall accumulation could reach 3 inches, particularly in higher elevations, while low temperatures will drop into the upper 30s to low 40s in most regions, with 20s in the mountains.

Drivers should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially in higher-elevation areas. Wind gusts up to 35 mph may further impact driving conditions and cause isolated power disruptions.

The Maryland Department of Transportation advises residents to allow extra travel time, keep an emergency kit in their vehicle, and check for road updates before heading out. Snowfall should taper off by early Friday morning, but lingering slick spots are possible during the morning commute.
