Maryland – A gray, damp start greets much of the state this morning as fog clings to neighborhoods and wet pavement reflects headlights. The calm, cool feel won’t last long. A developing Weather system is setting the stage for a soggy and unusually mild stretch through the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog early gives way to partial sunshine later today. Temperatures rise to the mid-50s around Baltimore, with light winds increasing by late morning. While conditions improve briefly, moisture already sits in place across central Maryland.

Tonight turns mostly clear and cooler, with lows near 37 degrees. Thursday offers the quiet window. Skies turn mostly sunny, and highs reach the low 50s, making it feel more like early spring than January 2026.

Conditions shift quickly late Thursday as clouds thicken. By Friday, rain spreads across Baltimore and surrounding counties. Highs climb to around 57 degrees, and roads along I-95, I-83, and the Baltimore Beltway could turn slick during periods of steady rainfall. Travel delays are possible, especially during peak hours.

Friday night into Saturday brings the most impactful weather. Rain becomes widespread and heavier at times, pushing totals higher. Saturday stays wet with highs near 62 degrees, well above average. Poor drainage areas could see ponding, and visibility may drop during heavier downpours.

Saturday night remains damp before rain tapers early Sunday. Cooler air filters back in, dropping lows into the mid-40s. Sunday stays mostly cloudy with a lingering chance of rain and highs near 50 degrees. While snow isn’t expected now, colder nights early next week raise the risk of slick spots after sunset.

Drivers should allow extra time, keep headlights on in fog and rain, and watch for changing road conditions.
