Baltimore, MD – Gray skies and damp streets set the tone across central Maryland this morning as a midweek storm system builds to the west. The early calm is temporary — by afternoon, clouds will thicken, rain will return, and gusty winds will follow, just as millions begin their Thanksgiving travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore–Washington, rain arrives later today and continues through Wednesday morning. A few heavier pockets could slow commuters on I-95, especially from Laurel to Towson. Southerly winds near 10 mph will bring in mild air, pushing highs near 58°F.

By Wednesday evening, colder air filters in from the Appalachians as the storm exits east. Rain tapers to light showers before clearing skies usher in a brisk, drier Thanksgiving Day. Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-40s under mostly sunny skies, marking a sharp drop of nearly 20 degrees from midweek highs.

Thanksgiving itself looks pleasant but crisp — perfect for morning parades or backyard football. The chill lingers into the weekend, with Friday’s high near 42°F and lows dipping into the 30s. Saturday stays mostly sunny before another chance of rain returns late Sunday into Monday.

Five-Day Outlook:

  • Today: Rain develops, high 58°F.
  • Wednesday: Chance of rain, high 69°F.
  • Thanksgiving Day: Mostly sunny, high 46°F.
  • Friday: Sunny, high 42°F.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 44°F.
