Salisbury, MD – Drivers across Maryland’s Eastern Shore should prepare for slick travel conditions early Sunday as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 AM to 1 PM EST Sunday for Dorchester and Wicomico counties. Forecasters expect snow accumulations of up to two inches, which could be enough to create hazardous road conditions, especially during the morning hours.

Communities affected include Salisbury, Cambridge, Hurlock, Delmar, and surrounding areas. While snowfall totals are expected to remain relatively light, even minor accumulations can lead to slick roads, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and untreated surfaces.

The timing of the snow may impact early Sunday travel as precipitation develops overnight and continues into the late morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Reduced traction and patchy icy spots could slow travel across local and rural roadways.

Officials urge motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time if heading out Sunday morning. Residents are also encouraged to monitor local road conditions before traveling.

The latest roadway and traffic updates are available by calling 511 or checking Maryland transportation resources online.

Additional updates will be issued if weather conditions change.
