Baltimore, Md. – A stretch of warm, muggy weather across Maryland will give way to a stormy Saturday as a powerful cold front sweeps through the state. Residents should brace for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms, some capable of producing damaging winds and heavy downpours.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, today will remain mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s across urban areas and low 70s in the mountains. Winds will increase to 10–15 mph with higher gusts. The main threat arrives Saturday when storms develop during the afternoon and evening, fueled by the cold front. These storms could bring localized flooding, tree damage, and travel disruptions.

Baltimore and Washington, D.C., are expected to see highs near 81 degrees Saturday before temperatures tumble behind the front. In western Maryland, including Frederick and Cumberland, cooler air will drop highs into the mid-60s by Sunday. Winds will shift northwest Sunday at 5–10 mph, keeping skies mostly sunny and humidity low.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways Saturday night, and residents should secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds. Power outages are possible if storms down trees or lines.

High pressure will build in from the Ohio Valley early next week, bringing calmer and more seasonable weather.
