Baltimore, Md. – Morning rain is making for a damp Friday across Maryland, but skies are expected to clear by late afternoon, giving way to colder-than-average temperatures and the potential for patchy frost in western valleys tonight.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, high temperatures today will range from the mid-50s in the mountains to near 70 degrees in the D.C. and Baltimore metro areas. Rain will linger into early afternoon, especially east of I-95, before tapering off. Overnight lows will dip into the 30s and 40s, with frost possible in the Allegheny Mountain valleys, including areas near Oakland and Cumberland.
Drivers should be cautious on wet roads this morning, and residents in western Maryland should protect sensitive plants or outdoor equipment vulnerable to frost damage. While skies will begin to clear Friday night, the real improvement comes Saturday, with mostly sunny conditions and highs from the low 60s in the west to mid-70s near the Bay.
This quick-hit rain event marks a shift back to seasonable spring weather, with no major storms expected this weekend. Patchy morning fog could return Saturday, but overall conditions will be dry through Sunday.
