BALTIMORE, Md. – A chilly fall morning greets Maryland with frost possible in outlying areas west of I-95 before temperatures rebound into a warm, sunny stretch heading into the weekend. Residents should prepare for a quick shift from jacket weather to short sleeves as highs climb into the 70s by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, clear skies and calm winds overnight have set the stage for patchy frost across northern and western Maryland. Drivers along I-70 and I-270 should watch for reduced visibility in early morning valleys where frost and light fog may develop. Despite the cold start, Thursday will turn bright and breezy, reaching the mid-60s.

Friday continues the warming trend with highs near 66°F under clear skies. Saturday brings the best weather of the week — sunny, mild, and reaching around 70°F — perfect for fall markets, outdoor sports, or leaf-peeping along the Chesapeake Bay. However, a weak front will approach late Sunday, bringing increasing clouds and scattered showers by evening.

The National Weather Service notes a 60% chance of rain Sunday night, with brief downpours possible. Rain could slow traffic along I-95 and Route 40 during the late commute. By Monday, drier air returns, but cooler highs in the 60s will remind the region that late October’s chill isn’t far behind.
