Baltimore, MD – A strong cold front moving through the Mid-Atlantic will bring gusty winds, freezing temperatures, and rough marine conditions from Monday night into early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington.
A Gale Watch has been issued for much of the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac River, in effect Monday night through Tuesday evening, with winds potentially reaching 35 to 40 knots. Boaters are urged to remain in port or use extreme caution as rough waters and strong gusts could make conditions hazardous.
Inland areas, including King George, St. Mary’s, and Calvert counties, fall under a Freeze Warning Monday night into Tuesday morning, marking the end of the growing season for southern Maryland. Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s, with frost and freeze conditions possible in outlying areas.
The weather service also warns of isolated thunderstorms Sunday night ahead of the front, followed by a sharp temperature drop and dry, breezy conditions through Veterans Day.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items, cover sensitive vegetation, and monitor local updates for any upgraded wind or freeze advisories.
