Baltimore, Maryland – Thunderstorms will continue across Maryland this week, bringing a rising threat of localized flooding, especially in the central and southern parts of the state through Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, today’s rain chances range from 40% to 60%, with Wednesday peaking at a 60% to 80% chance of heavy thunderstorms. Isolated to scattered instances of flooding are possible, particularly during periods of intense rainfall. Highs remain steady in the low-to-mid 80s statewide.

Flood-prone zones in Prince George’s, Charles, and Anne Arundel counties are at heightened risk today and tomorrow. In Baltimore and Washington, D.C., evening commutes may be disrupted by ponding on roads and reduced visibility during downpours. Thunderstorms may also bring gusty winds and brief lightning bursts.

Drivers should avoid water-covered roadways and check WAZE or MDOT traffic updates before traveling. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and clear drains to reduce flood risks.

Storm activity is expected to taper slightly Thursday and Saturday but won’t fully clear out. More alerts may be issued as patterns evolve through the week.
