Baltimore, Maryland – Triple-digit heat is gripping Baltimore as a dangerous wave of summer weather settles over Maryland. Temperatures will soar to 102° in the city on Wednesday, July 30th, with a heat index peaking at a stifling 107°, making outdoor activities potentially hazardous and raising the risk for heat-related illness across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, light and variable winds will do little to relieve the sweltering conditions. Residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel—especially along I-95 and key city routes—between noon and 6 p.m., when the heat will be most intense. Cooling centers are open throughout Baltimore, and anyone working outside should take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and watch for signs of heat exhaustion. Parents are advised to check on children and seniors, and pet owners should avoid afternoon walks.

Wednesday’s blistering weather is just the start. The heat continues into Thursday, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing by late afternoon and into the evening. Showers could bring some relief Thursday night, but humidity will remain high. Friday will see more clouds and showers likely, with slightly cooler highs near 83°.

The weekend brings a welcome break: Saturday turns mostly sunny with highs around 85°, followed by a pleasant, partly cloudy night in the upper 60s. Sunday and Monday both promise mostly sunny skies, with highs climbing from 88° to near 89° to start next week.

What’s Next:
Heat warnings remain in effect through Thursday. More showers are expected Friday, with a cooler, drier pattern for Baltimore beginning Saturday. Stay tuned for additional updates if new advisories are issued.
