Baltimore, Md. – Cooler than average temperatures will settle across Maryland overnight, with many locations dipping into the upper 50s and low 60s before sunrise Saturday. The stretch of dry weather will hold through much of the day under high pressure, keeping skies clear and conditions calm for morning commuters.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, the high pressure system will slide east Saturday afternoon, opening the door for a cold front to approach from the west. That front could trigger isolated showers and thunderstorms in the Appalachians by late Saturday and into the evening.
Cities including Baltimore, Washington, and Frederick can expect overnight lows near 60 degrees, while western towns such as Oakland and Cumberland will be cooler, dipping into the upper 50s. The more humid air mass accompanying the front may allow stronger storms to develop west of the Blue Ridge before weakening toward the I-95 corridor.
Travelers heading toward mountain passes should be alert for changing weather conditions after sunset Saturday. Officials advise monitoring updates through the weekend as additional showers may track east into central Maryland.
Dry and comfortable conditions are expected to return Sunday into early next week.
