Washington, D.C. – A coastal low moving inland is set to keep much of the Mid-Atlantic damp and unsettled through Wednesday, with thunderstorms most likely east of I-95 and scattered showers farther west. Breezy conditions and cooler-than-average highs will linger until late week.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, storm chances run as high as 80% Tuesday east of the Alleghenies, with rainfall tapering off by Wednesday evening. Cities including Washington, Baltimore, and Fredericksburg will see highs in the upper 60s to low 70s through midweek before a marked warmup Friday.

Travelers along I-95 and U.S. 15 should watch for periods of reduced visibility in heavy rain and ponding on secondary roads. Outdoor plans may be disrupted Tuesday into early Thursday, particularly for commuters and school events. Winds along the Chesapeake Bay will also stay gusty, adding to small craft concerns.

Conditions will turn brighter and warmer beginning Friday, with highs climbing into the 80s across the region into the weekend. A weaker disturbance could bring isolated showers Saturday and Sunday, though widespread rain is not expected.
