BALTIMORE, Md. – Damp air and a rising tide fill the early-morning calm along the Inner Harbor, where seawater laps near the promenade edges. The smell of salt and diesel mixes as a new round of heavy rain and gusty wind builds toward Baltimore. Coastal flooding and soaking showers will mark Sunday’s weather, making travel and waterfront access difficult through late tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until midnight, warning of up to one foot of tidal inundation in low-lying areas. Flooding is already possible along Thames Street, Fells Point, and Bowleys Quarters, especially around high tide this morning and again near 6:30 p.m. Steady rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected through evening, with gusts up to 30 mph along the I-95 corridor.

Water could briefly cover sections of the promenade and nearby streets during peak tide cycles. Drivers should allow extra time and avoid roads that appear flooded, particularly near harbor-adjacent neighborhoods. South winds will push water inland before shifting west later tonight, easing coastal impacts as drier air moves in by Monday.

Monday turns cooler and brighter, with highs in the upper 60s and calmer breezes. Sunshine dominates Tuesday, followed by another weak system midweek that may bring a few showers and crisp fall air. For now, residents are urged to secure outdoor items and prepare for tidal flooding before the region slides into a calmer, drier stretch of fall weather.
