BALTIMORE, Md. – Maryland drivers may face damp and slick conditions on I-95 early Friday as overnight showers taper before dawn. Roads will begin drying by the morning commute, but wet pavement could slow traffic in and around Baltimore.
According to the National Weather Service, showers will clear out by 5 a.m. Friday, leaving behind mostly cloudy skies and lows near 65 degrees. Commuters should allow extra time on major routes including I-95 and I-83 as scattered damp spots could remain during rush hour.
By Friday afternoon, sunshine returns with highs near 84. Light northeast winds will keep humidity manageable, setting up a pleasant fall-like day across Central Maryland. Outdoor events in Baltimore, Towson, and Columbia should see dry conditions and comfortable air.
Saturday brings partly cloudy skies with temperatures near 84 before a warming trend builds through Sunday. Highs will push close to 87 in Baltimore by Sunday afternoon, signaling a brief September heat wave. Residents should stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity outdoors during peak heat hours.
Evenings will cool into the mid-60s, providing relief for overnight events. Clear skies will dominate most nights, making conditions favorable for outdoor dining, late-night drives, and waterfront gatherings along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
The warmer pattern holds through early next week, with mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday. Light winds and dry air will continue, creating stable conditions for travel, outdoor work, and school activities.
Warnings are not currently in place, but additional updates may follow if showers develop late next week.
