BALTIMORE, Md. – Maryland residents can expect a calm, sunny weekend before thunderstorms build Monday night and threaten the Baltimore region by Tuesday. Drivers along I-95 should prepare for slower commutes and possible delays as storms develop into Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore, conditions stay dry and warm through Sunday with highs near 77 degrees. Monday will remain partly sunny with a high near 79, but showers and thunderstorms are likely to arrive Tuesday afternoon. The storms bring a 40 percent chance of rain and may impact rush hour travel across Baltimore and surrounding counties.

City neighborhoods, including Dundalk and Towson, may see localized flooding on smaller roads if downpours occur. Commuters are advised to keep headlights on during storms and allow extra travel time. State Highway Administration crews are monitoring for pooling water along I-95, I-83, and the Beltway.

Utility crews urge residents to charge devices ahead of Tuesday evening in case of brief power outages. Outdoor plans, especially youth sports or community events, should be adjusted to account for changing skies.

The storm risk decreases Wednesday but scattered showers remain possible through Friday. Conditions will stay seasonable with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid-60s.

More weather advisories may be issued if storms intensify. Marylanders should monitor updates through Tuesday night and stay alert for rapid changes.
