Baltimore drivers may face water-covered roads near the Inner Harbor early Friday as tidal flooding threatens low-lying neighborhoods. The National Weather Service warns that up to half a foot of water could inundate streets near Thames Street and Bowleys Quarters until 8 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service, tides reached one to one-and-a-half feet above normal levels overnight. The next high tide is expected at Fort McHenry just before 5:30 a.m. Friday. Motorists should avoid flooded areas, including parts of Boston Street near Canton, where water may cover intersections. Do not drive through barricades or water of unknown depth.

Friday turns hot and mostly sunny, with highs near 91 degrees before showers return Saturday afternoon. Thunderstorms could bring damaging winds late Saturday into Saturday night, raising concerns for outdoor events, including youth sports and weekend travel across I-95 and I-695. Residents should secure outdoor items and prepare for potential power outages.

Sunday brings a break with sunshine and cooler highs around 78 degrees. More showers develop Sunday night before another warmup early next week. Temperatures rebound to the mid-80s by Monday and Tuesday with clear skies dominating through midweek.

Advisories may be extended as tides remain elevated through the weekend. Residents in flood-prone zones should monitor alerts closely.
