Baltimore, Maryland – Storm chances return to central Maryland and the D.C. metro area this afternoon, but today’s storms are expected to be less intense than those earlier this week. High temperatures will climb into the mid-80s Thursday, with continued humidity and possible patchy fog developing overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, showers and thunderstorms could develop late Thursday afternoon and into the evening hours. The overall threat has decreased, but localized downpours and lightning remain possible, especially south of I-70 and east of I-81. Foggy conditions could reduce visibility overnight in low-lying and rural areas.

Cities including Baltimore, Rockville, Frederick, and Annapolis should prepare for scattered rain and possible thunder between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. While widespread flooding or damaging winds are not expected, drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and avoid water-covered roads during heavy downpours.

Humidity will stay elevated through the weekend, with daily storm chances and highs ranging from the upper 70s to low 90s. Residents should keep devices charged, monitor alerts, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Active weather is likely to continue through early next week. Additional advisories may be issued.
