Baltimore, MD – Cold air slides quietly into central Maryland this Friday morning, bringing the season’s first Frost Advisory for parts of the Washington, D.C., metro region and nearby counties. Temperatures are dipping into the 30s from Prince William to Howard County, signaling a crisp and chilly start as fall air deepens across the Mid-Atlantic.

The National Weather Service says frost will be most likely in rural and low-lying areas between 4 and 9 a.m. Residents should cover plants, bring in potted vegetation, and protect outdoor plumbing where possible. Urban cores like downtown Baltimore and D.C. will stay slightly warmer, in the mid-40s, sparing the cityscape from frost but not the morning chill.

By midday, the region will rebound into the low 60s under full sunshine, creating a pleasant setup for weekend plans. Saturday will bring increasing clouds but little change in temperature, with highs near 61°F and light northwest winds. Sunday will likely be the pick of the weekend—partly sunny, breezy, and a touch warmer at 60°F to 62°F.

Next week starts mild with highs in the upper 50s Monday before rain chances return by Tuesday and Wednesday.

To be fair, this cold shot isn’t severe—but it marks another clear signal that late-fall is arriving quickly. With Halloween now a week away, forecasters say trick-or-treaters can expect cooler, dry conditions if current patterns hold.
