Maryland – A thin glaze of ice clings to railings and overpasses across Baltimore this morning as temperatures hover near 32 degrees. Light freezing rain and drizzle have created slick spots, especially on bridges along I-95 and I-695. Elevated surfaces remain the biggest concern through mid-morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. for Cecil, southeast Harford, and southern Baltimore counties. Mixed precipitation, mainly freezing rain, may leave a light glaze of ice on untreated and elevated surfaces. Roadway temperatures are generally above freezing, but isolated slick patches are possible.
Rain becomes more widespread as the morning progresses. Highs reach 43 degrees later today, changing any lingering ice to plain rain. Drivers should slow down on ramps and overpasses and allow extra stopping distance during the commute.
Midweek trends milder but unsettled. Highs climb to 56 Wednesday with periods of rain. Thursday turns even warmer, reaching 63 degrees with additional showers. By Friday, temperatures jump to 68 under partly sunny skies.
This late winter pattern flips quickly. Icy patches early, springlike air by week’s end.
Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight arrives just as a broader warm spell expands into early next week, with highs pushing near 70 degrees.
