According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 3 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Monday. Forecasters expect 5 to 10 inches of snow across north central, northeast and southern Maryland, with locally higher totals up to 14 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, producing blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Snow develops later today and becomes heavy at times tonight. Travel along I-95, I-83 and the Baltimore Beltway may turn hazardous as roads become snow-covered. The Monday morning commute could be significantly impacted. Officials urge drivers to delay travel and monitor 511 for real-time road conditions.
As temperatures hover near freezing today, some melting may occur on treated surfaces. When readings drop into the 20s late tonight, flash freezing could create icy patches, especially on bridges and overpasses.
Snow tapers Monday with highs near 40. Tuesday, February 24th turns mostly sunny and cooler, with highs around 35. By Wednesday, temperatures rebound near 49 under partly sunny skies. Late week trends milder, with highs reaching the upper 40s to near 50 and signs of early spring warmth building into next weekend.
