COLLEGE PARK, MD – A Bowie man was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm during a road rage encounter on Central Avenue in Prince George’s County, authorities said.

According to Maryland State Police, troopers responded around 3:25 p.m. on August 7 after receiving a call from a motorist who claimed another driver had aimed a gun at them near Landover Road. Investigators with the State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative later identified the suspect as Justus McDougal, 24, of Bowie.

McDougal was arrested Wednesday and is facing multiple charges, including first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a felony crime, and possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle, police said. He was booked into the Prince George’s County Division of Corrections and released on bond.

Police reported that during a search of McDougal’s home in Bowie, investigators recovered several firearms, including a handgun and an AR-style pistol without serial numbers, along with high-capacity magazines. Officers also said McDougal attempted to destroy his phone during the search but was taken into custody without further incident.

The Maryland Department of State Police said it continues to investigate the case and is urging the public to report incidents of gun violence on state highways. Troopers are also seeking information related to ongoing homicide investigations in the county.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 410-538-1887. Callers may remain anonymous.
