Towson, MD – The Baltimore County Police Department is reminding residents that National Prescription Drug Take Back Day takes place Saturday, October 25, providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted or expired medications.

According to police, all 10 Baltimore County precincts have 24-hour drop boxes where residents can safely discard prescription drugs, ointments, and over-the-counter medications — no questions asked. The effort is part of a national initiative organized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to help reduce the risk of misuse and environmental contamination.

Police encourage residents to take inventory of their medicine cabinets and properly dispose of anything that’s expired or no longer needed. The department notes that its drop-off locations are accessible seven days a week, including holidays, ensuring year-round availability for safe disposal.

“This is a simple way for residents to keep their homes and communities safer,” the department said in a statement Friday.
