Baltimore, MD – Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police officers issued more than 330 citations and warnings during a statewide enforcement effort targeting dangerous driving last Friday.

According to the MDTA Police, officers across all detachments participated in the high-visibility initiative, focusing on aggressive and distracted driving—two of the leading causes of crashes on Maryland roadways. Over the course of the day, officers conducted more than 260 traffic stops, resulting in 331 total citations and warnings.

Officials say these efforts are part of an ongoing push to improve safety on Maryland toll roads and highways. The MDTA noted that additional enforcement initiatives are planned in the coming months to deter reckless behavior behind the wheel.

“Operations like these supplement our everyday patrols,” the agency said in a statement. “We’ll continue working to keep Maryland’s roads safe for all drivers.”

Motorists are urged to report dangerous driving on Maryland toll roads by contacting the MDTA Police Dispatch at 410-537-7911.
