According to the Maryland State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, when troopers responded to a reported shooting on eastbound I-70 near Maryland Route 27. Authorities discovered a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck on the 600 block of Lakeview Drive with six individuals inside, including 20-year-old Eduardo Alexander Alvarado Urrea, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the occupants, the driver, was transported to a trauma center with gunshot wounds. His identity is being withheld. Another passenger was assessed on-site but declined treatment, while the remaining three individuals were unharmed, police said.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was fired upon by another vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70. The group had reportedly left an event at the Frederick Fairgrounds shortly before the shooting occurred at around 11:40 p.m.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have dashcam footage from eastbound I-70 in Frederick County between 11:30 p.m. and midnight to contact the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4150. Tips regarding the incident are also being welcomed.
