Charles County, MD – The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its call for information in the 1980 homicide of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a wooded area near Sharpsville Road, according to a cold case briefing shared by the department this week.

According to investigators, the teenager was last seen on the evening of Nov. 13, 1980, after leaving her Northeast Washington, D.C., residence to pick up a prescription from the People’s Drug Store on 12th Street NE. It was the last confirmed sighting of her.

The following afternoon, around 3 p.m. on Nov. 14, two hunters discovered her remains in a wooded area of Charles County. Detectives responded and the Medical Examiner ruled the case a homicide. At the time of her disappearance, she was reported to have been wearing blue jeans, a brown sweater, a green waist-length jacket, and brown shoes.

Cold case investigators say they continue to review evidence, re-interview witnesses, and evaluate new tips that come in as part of their ongoing effort to identify the person responsible. They emphasized that even small details from 1980 could provide the break needed to move the case forward.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Sheriff’s officials stress that callers may remain anonymous.
