Baltimore, MD – A wintry weather system is expected to impact Maryland on Christmas Eve, bringing the potential for light snow. Residents and travelers should prepare for possible slick roads and delays ahead of holiday gatherings.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will approach the region Tuesday, with snow chances increasing during the afternoon and evening. Accumulations are expected to be minimal, but even light snow can create hazardous conditions on roadways such as I-95 and I-70. Temperatures will hover in the mid-30s on Tuesday, dropping to the low 30s overnight.

The forecast calls for partly sunny skies Monday with a high of 35°F, but conditions will shift by Tuesday. Light snow is likely during the day, with a 30% chance of precipitation. Christmas Day itself is predicted to be partly sunny, with temperatures warming to 44°F.

Looking further ahead, Thursday and Friday are expected to remain dry, with highs reaching the mid-40s. However, another system may bring rain over the weekend.

Officials advise travelers to monitor weather updates closely and allow extra time for holiday commutes, particularly on Christmas Eve. Drivers are encouraged to check tire tread, maintain safe speeds, and carry an emergency kit in case of delays.
