Salisbury, MD – A winter storm continues to impact southeast Maryland and Virginia, bringing a mix of snow, sleet, and ice through Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service has extended its Winter Storm Warning until 10 AM EST Wednesday, warning of hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, VA, an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet are expected, along with a light glaze of ice. The affected areas include Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, Worcester (Inland and Beaches) in Maryland, and Accomack County in Virginia.

Travel is strongly discouraged, as roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick and hazardous. The storm is likely to affect both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. If travel is necessary, officials urge drivers to use caution, leave extra space between vehicles, and prepare for sudden visibility changes.

Residents are advised to stay indoors if possible and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready. Maryland and Virginia travelers can call 511 for real-time road updates.

This storm is part of a larger winter system affecting the Mid-Atlantic, bringing below-normal temperatures and icy conditions to the region.
