Baltimore, MD – Severe thunderstorms could sweep across Maryland and Delaware through 7 p.m. Wednesday, bringing damaging winds, intense lightning, and the potential for large hail just in time for the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 433 is in effect for 17 Maryland counties—including Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, and Prince George’s—as well as all three Delaware counties: New Castle, Kent, and Sussex. The watch remains active until 7 p.m. EDT.
Gusts up to 60 mph may down trees or power lines, especially in areas east of I-95. Drivers around Annapolis, Columbia, and Salisbury are urged to use caution as visibility could drop rapidly during strong cells. In Delaware, heavy downpours and cloud-to-ground lightning are expected in Dover, Newark, and Rehoboth Beach.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items, stay weather-aware, and monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts. If you’re outdoors or on the road, be ready to seek shelter quickly.
Storms may weaken after sunset, but additional alerts could follow if conditions persist into the night.
