Marquette, MI – Residents across the Upper Peninsula are enjoying a calm and sunny Sunday before a change in weather arrives to start the week, according to the National Weather Service in Marquette.
Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 40s, with cooler morning clouds lingering in parts of the eastern U.P. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the upper 20s to mid-30s under partly cloudy conditions.
Clouds will increase Monday as a new system approaches from the west. A few light showers are possible by afternoon, with highs climbing near 50°F. Rain will become more widespread late Monday night and continue into Tuesday, bringing a damp and breezy start to the week for much of northern Michigan.
Highs on Tuesday will remain in the mid-40s, with steady rain through the day and lows near 40°F. Cooler, drier weather is expected to return midweek as the system moves out of the region.
Residents are advised to plan for wet commutes Tuesday morning and keep an umbrella handy as the holiday week begins.
