Marquette, MI – A cool and unsettled weather pattern is setting up across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula this week, bringing several rounds of rain and breezy conditions, according to the US National Weather Service Marquette.

Forecasters say rain showers will move in from the west this evening, with temperatures dropping into the 50s overnight. Breezy winds will accompany the first round of rain tonight and continue into Tuesday, when highs are expected to reach the mid-40s to low 50s.

By Wednesday and Thursday, northwest winds will bring lake effect rain showers, especially across the eastern half of the U.P.. Highs will cool further, hovering in the 40s, with nighttime lows falling into the upper 20s and 30s.

Conditions are forecast to improve by Friday, when drier air moves in and partly sunny skies return. However, the cool fall air will linger, keeping daytime highs below normal across Marquette, Escanaba, and Ironwood.

Residents should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility through midweek, particularly in lake effect areas.
