Marquette, Mich. – Drivers across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula could wake up to patchy dense fog Monday morning, lowering visibility on rural highways and local roads. Spotty showers will also persist overnight, creating slick travel conditions for the start of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon, with highs ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s. The agency warns that fog may return Monday night, especially in low-lying and interior areas where overnight lows dip into the lower 50s.

By Tuesday, the threat for storms decreases but lingering showers remain likely, with cooler highs in the mid-60s to low 70s. The NWS notes the fog risk could continue in the central and eastern U.P. early Tuesday morning before lifting by midday.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, use headlights in foggy conditions, and be alert for sudden slowdowns. Residents should also prepare for brief downpours during Monday’s storms and check local alerts for possible advisories.

Rain chances taper off midweek, but forecasters say additional systems could return later in the week.
