Marquette, Mich. – Swimmers along Lake Superior are being urged to use extreme caution Thursday as dangerous waves and currents pose a moderate swim risk across Marquette County. Beaches at Middle Bay near Presque Isle, Little Presque Isle, and McCarty’s Cove are highlighted as particularly hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, breaking waves and rip currents are likely today, with conditions strong enough to challenge even experienced swimmers. Officials warn against entering the water near piers, break walls, and river outlets where currents can intensify.
