MARQUETTE, Mich. – A passing cold front will bring scattered rain showers and gusty winds to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula tonight, followed by clearing skies and breezy conditions Monday. The National Weather Service in Marquette reports that west winds will continue to gust up to 30 mph across much of the region overnight, with stronger gusts near 40 mph along the Keweenaw Peninsula.
According to the Weather Service, rain will spread across the central and eastern U.P. this evening before tapering off toward daybreak Monday. Temperatures will fall into the mid-30s to low 40s overnight, keeping the precipitation as rain rather than a mix. Sunny skies are expected to return Monday afternoon as cooler, drier air settles in behind the front.
Travelers on U.S. 41 and M-28 should prepare for wet roads and brief visibility reductions during heavier showers tonight. Boaters on Lake Superior are advised to monitor marine warnings, as choppy conditions will persist into Monday morning due to strong west winds.
By Monday afternoon, temperatures will rebound into the low to mid-50s with sunshine returning—though breezy winds will linger through much of the day.
