MARQUETTE, Mich. – A damp and unsettled stretch of fall weather will wrap up the weekend across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, as another round of rain moves in late tonight into early Sunday. The National Weather Service in Marquette reports that showers will develop overnight, spreading from west to east before tapering off by Sunday afternoon.
According to the NWS Marquette office, high temperatures today will reach the mid-60s to lower 70s under partly sunny skies once early-morning showers clear the eastern U.P. Rain returns late tonight, with overnight lows dropping into the low 40s. Sunday will turn cooler, with highs only in the low to mid-50s and gusty northwest winds ushering in drier, colder air by evening.
Interior locations could see overnight lows dip near freezing Sunday night, with temperatures between 31° and 36°, prompting possible frost by early Monday. Lakeshore areas, including Marquette and Munising, will stay slightly warmer in the upper 30s.
Travelers along U.S. 41 and M-28 should expect wet pavement and reduced visibility through Sunday morning. Forecasters encourage residents to bring in tender plants and prepare for the first chilly mornings of late October.
