Marquette, MI – Areas of dense fog are expected to lift Sunday morning across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, giving way to sunshine and warmer temperatures to close out the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service Marquette, highs Sunday will reach the mid to upper 70s across most of the UP, though areas closer to Lake Superior will stay cooler in the upper 60s. Clear skies and mild conditions are forecast for Monday, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-80s.

By Tuesday, clouds will increase ahead of a midweek system that brings the next chance of rain. Highs are expected to range from 70 to 86 degrees. Rain showers become more likely Wednesday and Thursday, though temperatures will remain seasonably warm, reaching into the low 80s Wednesday before cooling slightly by Thursday.

Forecasters note that dry weather persists into early Monday, providing favorable travel conditions. However, residents and commuters should plan for changing conditions as rain and possible thunderstorms return midweek.

The National Weather Service advises travelers in the UP to remain alert for fog during the early morning hours, particularly near Lake Superior, where visibility may be reduced.
