Marquette, MI – Strong winds are sweeping across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through Monday, with the National Weather Service in Marquette issuing a Wind Advisory for parts of the region, including the Keweenaw Peninsula and northern Marquette County.
Forecasters say southwest winds will gust up to 45 mph Sunday afternoon and evening, with a few gusts near 50 mph possible along exposed areas of the Keweenaw. Winds are expected to briefly ease overnight before strengthening again Monday as they shift to the west.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and use caution while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles. The strongest and most persistent winds are anticipated in the higher terrain and along the Lake Superior shoreline, where isolated power line or tree limb issues are possible.
The windy conditions are expected to continue into early Monday night before gradually diminishing by Tuesday morning. Cooler air will also settle in behind the front, keeping highs in the 40s to low 50s across the U.P.
